Join us as we celebrate freedom and courage at this year's Great American Series, September 22-24, 2010 at the EarlyWorks Museum.
This year the program will focus on the life history of an American heroine, Harriet Tubman. Born into slavery and known as the "Moses of her people," this humanitarian dared to help 300 fellow slaves escape via the "Underground Railroad."
Over 1200 students will experience Harriet's story as they attend special field trip programs. On the evening of September 23rd, the EarlyWorks Museum will host a unique dinner reception in honor of this great American. Coupled with fine food and education, Harriet's story will be brought to life through a dramatic presentation.
Atalanta based actress Joanna Maddox will perform her one-woman show "Journey to Freedom." Harriet Tubman will describe her life as a slave on the Brodas plantation, her daring escape and her on-going mission to free others. The audience will travel with this American icon on the road to freedom via the Underground Railroad.
